My wife and I have both experienced the challenges of aging parents. In 2008, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer which was shocking to our family as she did not smoke, and the advanced stage of the cancer was unexpected. She battled for nearly a year with chemotherapy and radiation which included intermittent hospital stays. My father was able to handle everything up until the last two months when her care needs exceeded his abilities. My two sisters essentially moved in and were there around the clock to assist my father and to ensure my mother was properly cared for. Our family was fortunate my sisters lived nearby and had flexible jobs and family situations.
My wife, Jean, was an only child. Her mother was also an only child. When her mother had a stroke in 2009, she had no extended family – no siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles - to share the burden. Her situation was compounded by the fact she was “sandwiched” in with two small children. She had to serve as her mother’s advocate with the medical professionals and find her mother a suitable rehab facility. Her mother emerged from that stroke and regained her independence for several years. When Jean and I married in 2015, her mother’s health was starting to decline and there were early signs of dementia. In January 2017, her mother had a second and even more catastrophic stroke. We had several challenging months with her mom in the hospital and eventually in a nursing home where she passed away.
Our experience with our parents gives us considerable understanding and empathy for other families dealing with their aging parents and loved ones. Now, we are seeing many of our friends facing the challenge and emotional anguish of seeing their parents decline in health requiring closer oversight and, in some cases, direct care. We recognize Hallmark Homecare provides an excellent platform to help families meet the challenge of finding quality caregivers to care for their loved ones.
I have spent 23 years working in banking as a commercial real estate lender. Jean has a background in education and most recently has served as an Administrative Manager in our church. We are excited to bring our life experience, career expertise, vision, and passion to the Hallmark Homecare model to partner with families to find compassionate and high caliber caregivers for their loved ones

- No state board or other disciplinary actions
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
